Meet Dakota

FoodCircles is proud to introduce, Dakota Brink, who has joined the FoodCircles team as a lead developer.

PC or Mac, and why?

I would definitely say Linux. I love the FOSS of Linux and KISS of Arch (My favorite distro) philosophies. Linux by far is the most configurable, letting me make it into whatever I want which allows me to be the most productive. It’s an operating system created by people for people.

Who is the one person you would like to meet, dead or alive?
Although this might sound cliche, I would without question say Jesus. His words carry depth and meaning, and still are present today. He is awe inspiring to crowds, and very inspiring to me.

Favorite day of the week, and why?

Saturday. I’m the least tied down on Saturdays and so are most other people. It’s great to spend time with others.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Like most kids, I wanted to be like my dad, who was the most inspirational character in my life at that time. He built houses, but other than that I didn’t think much about the future at that age. I’ve always been a creator. I took apart electronics, mechanical items, things that were valuable and usually broke them while trying to figure out how they worked. Wasn’t my mom’s favorite thing. I grew up writing music, and programming at age 12. And I’m still very into much programming today.

Why FoodCircles?
I met Jon though a church group / swing dance and since he found out that I was a developer that could do a lot of things, he wanted me on the team. And I think it was a great decision. Jon is a wonderful guy to work with.
