The First Dollar Lunch Day of Grand Rapids

Image

We wanted to thank all of you for participating in our first Dollar Lunch Day.

When it was all said and done, 230 folks tasted balanced meals that kids can receive for just $1 through Kids Food Basket, and learned of our app that’s committed to buying one of those meals every time someone uses it to eat out.  I’m happy to call the event a success.

— Stats
Day 1: 95 lunches pre-ordered, 55 sold at Rosa Parks (sold out)
a forced Day 2: 80 lunches sold at Rosa Parks (sold out, again)

Special shout-out to http://www.downtowngr.org/, Office of Special Events, Uptown Kitchen, Kiwanis GR North, and MLive.  They were responsible for giving us a tent, table, & the primest space downtown (Rosa Parks Circle), $500 in budget, letting us cook in a commercial kitchen, sneaking a last-minute feature in the paper and on TV, & more.

But what was the funnest part? Seeing reviews of the $1 meal. (check here, here, and HERE) 🙂
